Joe Grant joined Packaging Automation as a Mechanical Assembly Apprentice in 2018 and is now in his last year as a CNC Machinist Apprentice, this is Joe’s Apprenticeship story…
At school I always knew what I wanted to do, I wanted to be a chef so you can imagine my surprise when I started my part-time job as a chef only to discover that I didn’t like it! So back to the drawing board for me.
I have to admit that I found it hard to stay focussed at school, I was easily bored, and the classroom environment was definitely not for me. I needed something that was more hands on but would give me the chance to learn, earning money at the same time was a bonus!
When I started my Level 2 at TTE in Ellesmere Port somebody I knew mentioned that Packaging Automation might be able to offer me some Mechanical Maintenance experience and I jumped at the chance. How lucky was I?
Fast forward a few years and I’m now in, my final year as an Apprentice at Packaging Automation and couldn’t be happier. I work with such a great team and the wealth of knowledge they have is amazing. I’m learning every day and keen to never stop learning!
Next step is my apprenticeship graduation….
Ian Mayo, Manufacturing Manager is Joe’s direct Line Manager and commented:
