James Bridge - 27 years' service

James Bridge joined #TeamPA as a temp in 1994, now, 27 years later, we are pleased to say he is still with us and is now our Service Manager.

We asked James to tell us a little bit about his career at PA.

I started at PA in December 1994 as a temp on the purchasing ledger in the accounts department which was made into a permanent position after 2 weeks.

After approx. 12-18 months (I can’t be exact as it was a long time ago) I started to work for the Managing Director at the time, Carol, and the Chairman Anthony and provided support with respect to HR and Personnel.

Following some changes in the business I then had the opportunity to work in the service department in an administration role.

Over time this role evolved to working on the customer support desk offering technical advice (from initially, a non-technical person) and organising the service engineers.

The role developed into a Team Leader position as the department grew and I was then given the opportunity to assist with the Assembly department alongside my current role.

Eventually this turned into the Team Leader role covering both departments and then into the Management position I currently hold.

We then asked James to tell us the best thing about working at PA.

The best thing about working at PA must be the people, but after that I would say the challenge. We work in a challenging industry and that keeps us motivated and interested.

I have learnt such a lot from so many people over the years in terms of what to do as well as what not to do.

What’s the biggest change you have seen over the years at PA?

Definitely how the different people have aged over the years! But joking aside, the biggest change has come over the last 6-7 years as we have grown and developed as a business and advanced the technology we use.

While it can sometimes be a difficult and challenging place to work, it is also a great place to work. It has given me an opportunity to have a career, to work in a variety of positions and meet some exceptional people.

Sam Ashton, Commercial Director commented“James has had so many different roles within PA and his career journey highlights that attitude, enthusiasm and passion for the business can lead you almost anywhere. He has such a wealth of experience of our business, customers and market and it has been fantastic to have him on board on our journey during the past quarter of a century!”
