Gary Hartley is Technical Publications Author, joining #TeamPA in 1998.
We asked Gary to tell us a little bit about his career at PA.
I joined PA in 1998 when there were only 2 people in the team, and everything was done manually on a drawing board.
Fast forward 20+ years to 2021 and now it’s all electronic and desktop publishing.
I vividly remember my first day at Packaging Automation as it was a difficult yet significant day, it was the day of Arthur Penn’s funeral.
What is the best thing about working at PA?
Packaging Automation is not just a great place to work, they are very supportive too.
During my time with PA, I’ve had a few personal challenges to deal with including the death of my mother and a fifth metatarsal fracture and I felt very supported both times and felt that the management team genuinely cared about what I was going through. At PA they don’t just pay lip service they actually care and support you, in my book that tells you a lot about people. There is such a willingness to help and support each other and this runs throughout the organisation.
What is the biggest change you have seen over the years at PA?
There have been so many changes over the years, from drawing board to CAD system, logo changes and technological advance. Who knew that we would be investing in and using a 3D printer! More recently has been the relocation of teams to new buildings too.
We’d like to thank Gary for sharing his experience and his kind words about his colleagues.
