August News Round-up

Updated: Oct 8, 2021

August is an unusual month at Packaging Automation, all the teams are still busy but on top of our usual workloads we’re also all juggling annual leave, summer breaks, childcare during the school holiday and not to mention the dreaded covid quarantine! Thankfully, it seem like the ping-demic has eased and to support our teams during the school holidays we gave some of their kids summer jobs!

Here’s a quick round up of what else happened in August:

Esther McVey – GB NEWS

Our very own Chris Eckert, Service Engineer, was interviewed recently on GB NEWS by no other than Esther McVey, MP for Tatton Constituency. The piece was about the value of Apprenticeship over University after A levels.

Chris took the apprenticeship route with us and got a first-class degree! #PALPeople #TeamPA

If you didn’t get chance to see the interview – you can view it here

New Machining Centre

August saw the installation of another new machining centre to accommodate business growth and increase throughput of machine parts through the machine shop. The new Hurco will run alongside the other machine centres giving us extra capacity.

Exceptional Employee Award

Beth Greenway was awarded Exceptional Employee for August in recognition of her significant effort in continually monitoring supplies which we are sure you will agree is no mean feat when dealing with the impact on the supply chain from both Covid and Brexit!

Our congratulations to Beth on a well-deserved award and a special mention to other nominees, we’re sorry there can only be one winner.

· Ross Hodgkinson was nominated for delivering fast and efficient responses and exceptional customer service.

· Simon Wilson - was nominated for exceeding expectations with regards to tool testing and efficiency.

· Ian Mayo - was nominated in recognition for showing great leadership skills and for going above and beyond every day.

August continued the busy trend for the Projects Team with machines being dispatched throughout the UK and globally. Here’s just a few that were dispatched during August which included: Revolutions to Europe and the US to pack mushrooms and soft fruit and grapes.

In other news…

Sebastian Adascalitei, Electrical Fitter, and his partner Ramona welcomed a baby girl, Ioana Maria, in August – wonderful news and our heartfelt congratulations to the proud parents.

Willow the office dog!

With wellbeing and good mental health at the forefront of our minds, Willow was awarded some extra leave to enjoy the summer break and she made full use of it!
