Andrew Brookes-Wilde joined #TeamPA in 2000 and is now our Skilled CNC and Manual Miller. With 21 years under his belt as part of #TeamPA we were keen to hear his story.
We started by asking Andrew to tell us a little bit about his time at PA.
During my time at PA, I have always worked in the machine shop but have moved across a variety of machines including manual milling machines and CNC machines.
What’s the best thing about working at PA?
It has got to be the people! The work itself is relatively straight forward but it’s my colleagues and the banter that really makes it special.
Who if anyone do you look up to / have learnt the most from / find the most helpful at PA?
The most helpful person at #Packaging Automation is Paul Barrow and the support he gives with the CNC Programs.
What’s the biggest change you have seen over the years at PA?
Well, 21 years is a long time and there have been many changes. The biggest change is the size of the workforce, as the business has grown so have the teams.
We have also seen our machines move from air to electric which has been a major change.
Garry Purslow, Machine Shop Team Leader commented: “ It’s no exaggeration to say that Andy is quite simply a walking Machine workshop manual. Whenever there is a problem with a machine that breaks down, he is the go to person, he takes ownership of the problem until it is fixed. He has such a wealth of knowledge about the workings of the machines and how to fix them when things go wrong and for that reason - he is invaluable.”
